I'll pony up the money for the sign if they don't have funds. They are good looking signs and to me personally it would be worth it. Money is not an issue for me with regards to these type things. Yeah I'm a little peeved that I did my part but now the state is short on their end but that's petty and I'll get over it here in about 3 minutes. :D I want people to know that groups are actually cleaning up the stream - maybe it will make them think twice before they just chuck their trash. Or it could have a negative effect - "throw it out somebody will pick it up" I'll stick with the former.

Not saying your clean up efforts aren't worth the sign, Matt. Just that if it is just a delay in funds vs terminated funds. Also, do we get the signs cheaper if we provide the labor?

Who's in charge Nate? I'd say it's worth a couple of clarifying phone calls before any decision is made to fund.

Yes. Completely agree with you Zach.

It's iffy. One of those "hopefully next year" things.

Lisa Ritter-McMahn is in charge of Riverwatch now. Bottom line on state funding for the signs is our guess is as good as hers.

Clarifying question: "Can we install the sign and get a discount?"

Pretty sure $165 was for the materials. I will ask.

The way things are going now I'd be surprised if money to fund this type thing just fell into the state's lap. I'd give it a bit, but really $165 isn't that hard to come up with even if I didn't want to just fork over $165. Barter on ebay, buy low and re-sell some items, etc. I could go to the pull apart junkyard in Louisville and buy 8 armrests for mid 90's model Saturns for 9.00 and sell them on ebay for 30 bucks. Just silly stuff like that. I scrimp on a lot of everyday items to save money for the family and disposable income for myself. Don't have to but it's a no-brainer + it helps when you're just a mere simpleton as I tend to be! I love making things last 50X longer than the average person - kinda fun.

Regardless I'll send off the write-up and we'll see how the funding turns out as the year progresses!

Jerry's got the tools to do the install - pretty sure I wouldn't have to worry about labor if the state would allow it.

Question:
If it is a small stream, where I would need to park on a landowners property in order to access the stream, should I ask the landowner for permission first, and then contact the Riverwatch people? Or should I make sure the stretch is acceptable to Riverwatch, and then contact the land owners?

Good question Zack..

Get permission from the landowner reguardless. If it's not on the riverwatch and you still do some clean up on it, he might just give you permanent access anyway...

permission from landowner first...........without it whether Riverwatch approves or not doesn't matter.
